As a Northern California photographer, I had the privilege of capturing the breathtaking aerial performances at the 2024 Rumble Over the Redwoods Airshow in McKinleyville, California. Using my Nikon D850 paired with the Sigma 150-600mm lens, I was able to reach the soaring planes high above the majestic redwood forests. I utilised a slower shutter speed to capture the propellers in motion, adding a dynamic sense of movement to the images. However, this technique also presented challenges in post-processing, as half of the photos had to be discarded due to motion blur.
From high-speed flyovers to intricate aerobatic maneuvers, each shot tells a story of precision, power, and grace. The vivid details and sharpness achieved with my setup bring the energy of the airshow to life, offering viewers a front-row seat to this spectacular event.
